there are a lot of people in our lives who we may call 'friends', but in reality is not most of them are true friends. do you know who is your friend? do you really think the friend is the one who you can see everyday and talk to? who is your friend and who is just a passerby in your life?
when thinking about it carefully you can find a lot of good answers, helping to differentiate you and those valuable people in your life and all the rest people, who are around but who hardly can help you to avoid the loneliness of the big and noisy world
trying to greet friend, as usual, one does not need any help, as knows for sure which words can easily reach friend's heart and make him/her feel warm about you in his/her life.
but still if feeling not so certain, try to help you
sometimes people use the ready greetings they can find online, but to create own greeting is much better and more meaningful
think over:
- the holiday you are going to greet your friend (as usual holiday may give you the main idea of the greeting, if it is New Year: everything can be started from the very beginning or going on in the same or even better way; Easter: try to think about the soul and inner beauty)
- event (wedding: new family life and the way you want your friend to have it)
- maybe you just want to remind/say think you him/her for the friendship
- show your gratitude over some special things your friend made for you
...of course all said above is rather superficial, like a starting point in your greeting so your task is to develop it and create your own unique lines
additional points:
- the personality your friend has
- the events he had in his/her life
- maybe some of your common experience or shared events
- some special events in friend's life when he/she was really kind towards you/some other person
- some friend's words you may use to show your friend he/she is a very interesting or sincere person
to make the personalized greeting one needs to know the person very well or at least try to figure out everything one knows; find some little trifle no one never notices but that makes other person your friend
very helpful in writing are wise or funny expressions you may find...some lines which can help you to see the right idea for the very greeting

write the greeting matching the expression (it can be a short or a long greeting depending on your desire and inspiration)

otherwise nothing can help nor gifts nor smiling people around....agree?
with each card it is getting more interesting when will be created the best one...
sometimes parents get their presetns not only for the holidays but earlier... baby born present..) 
...it is such a problem to make a choice when there are so many different cards...but it is so wonderful to spend time thinking about some special person...
one of happy winter symbols is snowman...of course when you have time for having fun outside...or if you have kids, then it does not matter whether you have your time or no...let's be like kids!
waiting for real winter to visit, creating snow cards and trying to remember how far it is great to have snowy day fun outside))
what about a summer card in the winter time? i guess warm beach is what
one needs when having sad times in life, but sure card can be used not
only in sad times)) 
there is no need to present huge cards if you want to say several warm and really valuable words
